Raya Gemilang 2011

This is the very first time Majlis Pusat collaborates with MediaCorp Suria to telecast the Switch-On ceremony "LIVE" from Geylang Serai on Friday, 30 July 2011 at 8.30pm. Based on "Coming Home" concept, the Switch-On Ceremony will see close to 150 artistes and performers from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia performing a 90-minute cultural and entertainment show titled "Raya Gemilang".

See our dancers on stage with popular artistes such as Didi Cazli, Sarah Aqilah, Sleeq, Jeffrey Din, Rahimah Rahim, Husin Saaban, Arif Samsudin as well as regional artistes like Dewi Yull. Kirana Seni forte is in the form of Traditional Malay Dance, but it is clearly shown that they are more than capable of handling shows just like this one.

Muara
Pesta Tari Melayu Singapura 2011

More than 1000 dancers will gather and perform at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre from 8 to 10 July 2011 in the inaugural Muara – Pesta Tari Melayu Singapura 2011. Evolving from traditional and folk dances, 7 established local Malay dance groups together with 68 schools will perform creative works reflective of Singapore's fast paced metropolitan lifestyle.

With the theme, "swaying the past forward," the 3-day festival aims to provide an additional platform for dance practitioners and enthusiasts to showcase current works on a larger scale to a bigger audience and at an internationally recognised venue.
